For the next installment of the vinyl-only imprint, Kaye makes a welcome return, lending his midas touch to two stone-cold classics, adding new musical elements (guitar courtesy of his son, Jack), extending the joy and warming up the bottom end for some serious dance floor business. This 12″ is all about the groove with Kaye refixing Earth, Wind and Fire’s disco-funk classic “Saturday Nite” and Funkadelic’s anthemic dancefloor pledge “One Nation Under A Groove”. On the A, Kaye takes the head nodding rhythm of “Saturday Nite” from the heat of the block party to the polished floor of Studio 54 with loops, extensions and a neat re-EQ. On the flip, “For The Funk Of It” features a newly added low-down funky guitar riff, via Jack, that locks the groove from the first bar, before the opening lyrics (borrowed from ‘Psychedelic Shack ‘ by The Temptations) cause guaranteed dance floor delight. More essential edit tackle from the A&R crew.
